This episode continues on from Episode 22, as a more general episode to help improve people’s overall understanding of Endo during Endometriosis Awareness Month. Strategies and treatments should be viewed differently between if you are trying to get pregnant or not. Not all conventional treatments are appropriate, for example, taking the contraceptive pill or the coil are obviously not options! So that leaves surgery, and this is why I wanted to present the advantages and disadvantages of surgery, which is considered gold standard treatment for treating Endometriosis.
I then go onto to talk through the actions used in a functional approach to support the body to enable it to heal by itself. I also talk about the need to take an integrative approach, using a variety of tools to compliment and support the body to heal and deal with Endometriosis, and also to improve fertility. It is important to note that whilst Endo and fertility are very much linked, they are also not mutually exclusive – there may be things out of balance in your body that are not necessarily caused by the Endometriosis, but rather are doing the causing or triggering of Endo.
It is a rather complex picture, but I have attempted to try to simplify it as much as I can in one episode!
So in this episode I talk about:
- Surgical intervention
- Excision and ablation surgery
- Advantages and disadvantages of surgery for your fertility
- Questions to ask yourself if you are considering surgery
- Hormonal medical treatment post-surgery
- Nutrition
- Digestion
- Liver Function
- Hormones
- Nervous System
PLUS, I also let you know of some amazing upcoming interviews I have scheduled in the coming weeks!
