EF#50: 5 Signs of Healthy Ovulation for Women with Endometriosis

Ovulating body basal temperature endometriosis

Exploring holistic approaches to support your fertility journey

Are you a woman with endometriosis who is trying to conceive? Understanding the signs of healthy ovulation is crucial. In this podcast episode, Lizzie explores the 5 key indicators of optimal ovulation that every woman with endometriosis should know.

Endometriosis can often disrupt the delicate hormonal balance required for regular, healthy ovulation. By recognizing these 5 essential signs, you can gain valuable insights into your fertility cycle and take proactive steps to support your reproductive health.

The 5 Signs of Healthy Ovulation:

  1. Regular Menstrual Cycles: Healthy ovulation is typically accompanied by menstrual cycles ranging from 24 to 35 days. Irregular or significantly longer cycles may signal hormonal imbalances.

  2. Cervical Mucus Changes: As you approach ovulation, you may notice your cervical mucus becoming clearer, more slippery, and more stretchy, resembling raw egg white. This change helps sperm travel towards the egg.

  3. Basal Body Temperature Rise: After ovulation, your basal body temperature (BBT) should increase by 0.3°C (0.5°F) and remain elevated for at least 3 days. This sustained temperature rise indicates that ovulation has occurred.

  4. Increased Libido: Many women experience a natural boost in sexual desire around the time of ovulation, as our bodies are primed for conception.

  5. Mild Cramps and Breast Tenderness: Some women may feel mild discomfort or cramps on the side of the ovary that is releasing an egg, as well as slight breast tenderness, due to hormonal fluctuations.

Actionable Tips to Optimise Ovulation:

Lizzie shares several practical tips to help you improve your chances of healthy ovulation:

  1. Maintain a balanced, anti-inflammatory diet rich in nutrient-dense foods.

  2. Engage in regular, moderate physical activity to manage inflammation and support hormonal balance.

  3. Track your menstrual cycle and symptoms using apps or journals to gain a deeper understanding of your ovulation patterns.

  4. Get your thyroid function checked, as thyroid imbalances can significantly impact ovulation.
