How to Make Herbal Fertility Tea

Why Fertility Tea?

Fertility tea made of herbs is a fantastic way to help enhance your fertility during pre-conception. It is really important to nourish  your body before you get pregnant so you are ‘stocked up’ on all your vitamins and minerals. So when you are pregnant, you have a successful pregnancy and your baby isn’t then depleting your body and leaving you exhausted. It is also important to prepare your eggs, womb and womb / uterine lining, so it is inviting to host a little growing fertilised egg.

One thing that some people are not aware of is it is possible to nourish your womb and womb lining with herbs. This is especially important if you have poor unhealthy periods, which are a sign you need to balance your hormones and find out the root cause to improve your fertility.

Herbs are a great way to get a range of powerful antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to provide nutritional support, promote female hormonal balance, and aid the entire reproductive system.

There are many makes available to buy – all with a base of Red Raspberry Leaf, but if you really want to know what is going into your tea, and ensuring it is as potent as possible, then why not make your own!

If you do make your own, make sure you buy herbs from a reputable producer, who uses organic sources (where necessary), and they are fresh and not stale. I would recommend a couple of reputable producers such as Neal’s Yard in the UK or Mountain Rose Herbs in the US.

Nutritional benefits

The key ingredient is red raspberry leaf, which is reported to tone the uterus, and is high in vitamins C, A and E, as well as calcium, potassium, magnesium and iron. It has been found to contain phyto-progesterone properties – which is also fantastic if you have estrogen-dominance, as many women with Endometriosis have. This may help to increase the levels of progesterone, which may, in turn, enhance fertility. Additionally, red raspberry leaf has been shown to reduce inflammation and strengthen the uterine lining. Many fertility experts agree that a stronger uterus may help to decrease the risk of miscarriage during the first trimester.

Stinging nettle leaf is supposed to help in toning the uterus and is rich in minerals. It is also reported to be ridiculously high in chlorophyll, which is amazing at blood cleaning and oxygenating. Spring is a great time to collect your own and gently dry them. Just make sure you use gloves, and you are taking from a source that is not polluted or taking 100% of the nettles as they do have a use in the wild!

Peppermint is rich in antioxidants and minerals including potassium and calcium.

Red clover contains every mineral needed by the glandular system, improves circulatory function, increased cervical mucus and support to uterine tissue.

Green tea is rich in antioxidants, namely polyphenols – which reduce inflammation and improve blood flow to various organs.
